'The First Slam Dunk' surpasses 1 million viewers in 2 weeks of release

‘The First Slam Dunk’, an animation based on the popular 1990’s cartoon ‘Slam Dunk’, surpassed 1 million viewers on the 17th, just two weeks after its release.

According to the distributor NEW, ‘The First Slam Dunk’ recorded a cumulative audience of 1,000,065 as of 2:40 pm on the same day. This work became the first movie to surpass 1 million viewers in the new year.

‘The First Slam Dunk’ is currently maintaining the second place at the box office after ‘Avatar: Road to the Water’.

The distributor said, “Due to word of mouth, in the second week of release, the number of viewers is increasing even on weekdays and weekends beyond the first week.”

“The First Slam Dunk” is written and directed by Takehiko Inoue, the original manga creator. The main character in the work changes from ‘red-haired’ Kang Baek-ho to ‘Number One’ guard Song Tae-seop, and deals with the match between Buksan High School and Sanwang Technical High School that decorated the end of the original work.
