The original Korean drama ‘Pachinko’ produced by the American streaming platform Apple TV+ was selected as one of the ‘Top 10 TV Programs of the Year’ by the American Film Institute (AFI).

AFI announced on the 9th (local time) 10 award-winning TV programs with these contents.

Pachinko is an original series that Apple TV+ invested $1 billion in. Since its release in March of this year, it has created a box office sensation in the United States, Japan, and Korea.

Based on the best-selling novel by Korean-American writer Lee Min-jin, this drama tells the story of a Korean family living in Japan through turbulent times from the 1910s to the 1980s.

Along with ‘Pachinko’, the top 10 TV shows include ‘Abbot Elementary’, ‘The Bear’, ‘Better Call Saul’, ‘My Boss is a Comedian’, ‘Mom Story’, ‘Reservation Dogs’, ‘Severance’ :Disconnection’, ‘Somebody Someware’, and ‘White Lotus’ were selected.

The top 10 films of the year were ‘Avatar: Road to Water’ (Avatar 2), a sequel that came back 13 years after ‘Avatar’, and ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ (Top Gun 2), a sequel to ‘Top Gun’ released after 36 years. .

This was followed by ‘Elvis’, ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’, ‘The Fablemans’, ‘Knob’, ‘She Said’, ‘Tar’, ‘The Woman King’, ‘Women Talking’ made it to the top 10 movies.

AFI selects and announces each year the top 10 films and TV shows made by American production companies.
