New Jeans’ ‘Cookie’, NYT’s ‘Best Song’… Unique among K-pop

Girl group New Jeans’ debut song ‘Cookie’ was selected as one of the best songs of the year by the New York Times (NYT).

On the 7th (local time), the NYT published a total of 70 best songs of the year, each selected by three popular music critics, through an article titled ‘2022 Best Songs’.

“Cookie” ranked 11th out of 22 songs selected by critic John Caramanica, making it the only K-pop song to be included.

Caramonica evaluated “Cookie” as “the best song on the debut mini-album of the impressive young K-pop girl group New Jeans” and “a song that stands out for its not too much comfort.”

New Jeans created a sensation in the music industry by topping the album and music charts with their debut mini-album this year.

They will release a new single ‘OMG’ next month.
