Rapper Jay Park will host the first season of ‘The Seasons,’ a new music talk show that will succeed KBS’s late-night music talk show that aired for 30 years.

At the press conference for the production of ‘The Seasons – Jay Park’s Drive’ (hereafter referred to as ‘Jay Park’s Drive’) held on the 17th at KBS New Hall in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, Jay Park said, “I think carefully about everything I do under my name.” It’s a great honor to be able to do it,” he said.

The name of this program was directly conceived from Jay Park’s 2016 song title, ‘DRIVE’. This song conveys the message, ‘Let’s leave together so that we can forget all our worries and troubles’.

Jay Park explained, “(This program) also wanted to be able to listen to music and share private conversations while driving comfortably in a car.”

It is said that KBS, which has mostly stuck to the calm and calm style of host, chose Jay Park, who boasts a freewheeling charm, as an unexpected choice in many ways.

It is said that in the first recording held on the 11th, Jay Park showed off his unique volubility and progress.

Producer Lee Chang-soo confessed, “At the time of the first recording, Jay Park didn’t follow the script at all, so his eyes were dark.”

Still, he said, “I thought it was good to invite him after it was over.”

‘The Seasons’ presents four seasons in a year, and a different MC takes on his name and hosts each season. The MCs who will succeed Jay Park have not yet been revealed.

PD Lee pointed out the difference, saying, “If Roh Young-sim, Lee So-ra, Yoon Do-hyun, and Yoo Hee-yeol focused on universality, this time they put meaning on individuality.”

In the meantime, KBS’s late-night music program has invited senior singers, singer-songwriters, rappers, indie musicians, and idols to create a variety of stages.

Since most of the cast perform on stage live, it has been regarded as the best opportunity for new artists who are confident in their singing skills to become known.

Even ‘Yoo Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook’ has served as a gateway to new musicians for the past 13 years. Representatively, IU appeared in episode 10 of ‘Yoo Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook’ and made her face known.

PD Lee said, “I want Lim Young-woong to appear without ‘Mr. Trot’, Lee Young-ji without ‘High School Rapper’ and ‘Show Me the Money’, and Akdong Musician without ‘K-Pop Star’.” I will try to make it bold and new enough to come out.”
